Appears in 5 processs and 9 steps. Everything below is linked: open a process to see it in context.

Top processes

Carbon use efficiency controls necromass production

4 steps

Start: Substrate taken up by microbes
End: Carbon split between biomass and respiration set
Warming lowers CUE in models by about 0.016 per degree Celsius
and 1 more in this process

Enzyme kinetics: Michaelis-Menten rates and temperature response

2 steps

Warming raises Vmax (Q10 about 1.5-2.5 for hydrolases) and also raises Km
At low substrate, higher Km reduces the warming gain so temperature sensitivity of decomposition falls

Saprotrophic fungi

1 step

Moisture and temperature gate fungal activity

Organic matter decomposition

1 step

Moisture, temperature and oxygen set decay rate

Microbial necromass pathway to stable organic matter

1 step

Carbon use efficiency controls necromass production
