- Project manager: Log a change request
- The team: Estimate the effort and the impact on schedule, cost and risk
- Change control board: Review the request
- Change control board: What is the decision?
- Project manager: Update the scope, the budget and the schedule
- The team: Do the work
- Requester: Informed of the decision
- Project manager: Decline and tell the requester why
- Project manager: Add it to the backlog for later
- Project manager: Explain it and carry on
